The Tenth Annual Conference on Global Higher Education
at Lakeland University Japan

Date: Saturday June 1, 2024   •   Lakeland University Japan Campus (Ryogoku, Tokyo)

Special Guest to the Conference

This year a very special speaker will offer the Opening Remarks. The guest speaker, Sato Kuniaki, is the Director of International Affairs, Higher Education Bureau of MEXT. This will be a great opportunity to hear from a MEXT official whose job title is closely aligned with that of this conference. Mr. Sato plans to explain what his department does and possibly discuss innovations. It is rare for a MEXT official to directly address educators in the field. Do try to make an effort to attend the 9:30 Opening Remarks.

The More Things Change

A decade ago, we lived in a world where no one had yet heard terms like breakout room, Chat GPT, and social distancing. Despite the enormous disruption of the past 10 years and the resulting changes to how we do our jobs, we educators all go to work every day with the same core objective as we did when we first chose this path: to best serve our students. How can we get “back to basics” in teaching and connecting with students in a way that is relevant in today’s changing and expanding educational world?

As we mark the 10th edition of the Conference on Global Higher Education, join us for a day of diverse discussion of these and other questions related to education with a global perspective in Japan and around the world.
